THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE
We are a young company with great aspirations

Live Recording

Our aspirations for
A COMMUNITY OF NEW WRITERS

Our work will benefit a community of new writers of musicals by helping them to stage their work. In so doing, we will coach and guide them to create their most meaningful and appealing work.
Some of their musicals will be staged by the company and performed in theatres in the West Country and elsewhere in England. We will also provide on-line webinars for new writers in which they can learn from our experience and network with and learn from each other.

Actors on Stage

Our aspirations for
A COMMUNITY OF ASPIRING SINGERS, ACTORS, DANCERS AND STAGE CREW.

Aspiring new adult singers, actors, dancers and stage crew will benefit by learning about the practicalities of musical theatre by performing as extras alongside our professionals. Others
will shadow a senior member of our cast or crew. In practical terms, this means that at each theatre where the company’s musical productions are staged, each lead actor and main crew member will take under their wing a local aspiring actor or aspiring crew member and will coach them in the nature of the work they themselves perform.

We will stage tours of our productions so that we will visit many locations where our work and performances will support the development of local talent. And we will bring these people together in workshops aimed at further enhancing and consolidating their learning.

Our aspirations for
A COMMUNITY OF PROFESSIONAL SINGERS, ACTORS, DANCERS AND STAGE CREW.

We will benefit the professional
singers, actors, dancers and crew who work in the company’s musical theatre stage productions by providing personal
and career development opportunities and income.
In addition the company will build a network of seasoned and new professional singers, actors, dancers and crew members who will form the reservoir of developing talent from which the core
cast and crew of future company productions will be drawn. And the company will publicise and market this reservoir of talent to the wider musical theatre environment, thereby further supporting career development.

Our aspirations for
A COMMUNITY OF THEATRES

Regional theatre is the underrepresented backbone of the UK theatre community. It shapes childhoods, forges relationships and brings new ideas and new worlds to dream about.

In our role as a “community-first” theatre company, we aim to bring more theatre to more people and more theatres. We aim to help local theatres benefit from the additional trade, marketing and revenue we will bring as well as having the exclusivity of new, emerging productions that showcase the stories and talents of local people.

A COMMUNITY OF LOCAL PEOPLE

Local theatres, their audiences, staff and suppliers will benefit from the staging of the company’s productions, as will the general local commercial community, through the additional trade that will arise. The local community will also benefit from our productions because aspiring actors and crew who live among them will be a part of our productions. These people will learn new skills and abilities and grow in confidence, and as a result, they will be better able to interact with those around them and engage with and contribute more fully to their local community.

COMMUNITY WELL-BEING AND MENTAL HEALTH

The well-being and mental health of the people in our system will be enhanced through the theatre community family and spirit we will foster and encourage, giving them a real sense that they are not alone in their endeavours and that they have people like themselves that they can turn to and rely upon for support.

Our musicals will explore the challenges that all people face not only when they are healthy and successful but when they are faced with life's challenges be they physical, emotional or spiritual. We will explore issues of addiction, mental health and homelessness and reach out to those who are faced with these challenges, working closely with the charities and other bodies that support such people.

The musicals we promote observe and describe life as it is and as it might be, and hold up a mirror to the audience, asking, “what is it about you and those you know that is portrayed in the behaviour of our characters?” and “how might you behave in this or that situation?
This will help our audiences to reflect on what they have experienced enabling them to learn and grow.  Scenes or songs in a show can stir up personal feelings or emotions in an audience. These effects can help them to look at their own life in new ways, perhaps finding new ways of thinking and behaving. And a musical with all the comedy and music it offers, lightens the moment leaving them feeling reinvigorated and refreshed.

This all means that the well-being and mental health of people in the communities in which the company’s productions are staged will benefit from the understanding, reflection, entertainment, fun, enjoyment and personal learning that
will come from attending or being touched by our productions.
